November has come - and we have two shows!!
October's show was really special - if you didn't make it you missed out! Praers' incredible songcraft and sublime minimalism, Dan Bettridge's warm, soulful vocals and Alexander Carson's unrivalled musicianship and dry humour made for an evening none of us will forget in a hurry.
Now we're turning our attention to November where we have not one but TWO evenings of incredible live music lined up for you:
Sunday 21st November
“Songs that immediately evoke a full-body chill in the first few opening bars” – Wonderland Magazine
“A swooping, intense experience” – CLASH Magazine
Firewoodisland are husband and wife du0 Stian Vedoy and Abi Eleri. Norwegian-born Stian is a songwriter, composer, producer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist who also releases neoclassical instrumental music under the name Selsom and soul and jazz inspired lo-fi chillhop under the name Melketann. As well as being an accomplished singer and multi-instrumentalist, Welsh native Abi is a renowned artist and illustrator.
Taking their influences from artists such as Bon Iver, Ry X and Sigur Ros, the band describe their sound as “Mountain Pop”; a perfect blend of organic and digital elements. They will be joined at this show by a live cellist to add an extra dimension to their multi-faceted, layered, epic live sound.
Holly Abraham is an indie/pop/folk singer-songwriter, originally from Wales, based in Bristol, UK. Combining deep, soulful lyrics with misty, raw vocal tones, Holly creates mesmerising melodies which will leave listeners both captivated and enamoured.
Monday 29th November
Son of Town Hall
Part balladry, part performance art, and totally cool. Complete with Victorian-era costumes, sing-alongs and meditations about the seafaring life. Think Simon & Garfunkel lost at sea and you get a sense of the mythic world at play here.”
The Philadelphia Enquirer
Son of Town Hall are a pair of seafaring vagabonds, time travellers from a bygone age who sail their raft wherever the wind takes them singing songs and telling tales of the characters they’ve met and the adventures they’ve had.
If you look behind the curtain you might spot renowned singer-songwriters David Berkeley from New Mexico, USA and Ben Parker Jnr from London, England.
Both seasoned performers in their own right, when they come together you can expect pristine vocals, tight harmonies, intricate guitar work and an evening of fun stories and beautiful songcraft.
